A trip to Kansas City is not complete without a stop in at Rainy Day Books. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly and the selection is fabulous. They often highlight overlooked authors and have lots of events. Definitely worth a stop. It can get a little crowded at peak times, but everyone seems to navigate around each other successfully.
Drove by this place for years and always wanted to go in. Finally did and it did not disappoint. Very friendly, helpful staff and I was able to find a couple of books that I couldn't find at my normal haunts.
